A Message from American School’s Board of Trustees

Welcome to American School!

A message from American School’s Board of Trustees. It is our pleasure to welcome you to American School, a leader in distance education since 1897.  Since our founding, we have helped more than three million students in the United States and around the world earn a high school diploma at home or from another accredited school.

Those of us on American School’s Board of Trustees and all American School employees believe wholeheartedly in American School’s mission and purpose:

The American School, a not for profit distance learning institution utilizing various distance education methods, is dedicated to providing quality secondary instruction at a reasonable cost to those students who are seeking an alternative means of completing their high school education.

Early in our history we only offered high school correspondence courses, but today we are proud to offer online and traditional paper-based courses to students in grades 6-12, including online world languages courses powered by Rosetta Stone and Honors and AP courses.  All of our courses may be taken individually to enhance an existing homeschool program or for credit recovery at a resident middle school or high school.  American School courses may also be taken collectively as part of a full-year middle school program or full high school diploma program that culminates in a student earning American School’s accredited high school diploma.

Whether you need one course or several, you will receive the best value in distance education, with all study materials included in the cost of tuition.  American School allows students to work at their own pace and combines affordable tuition with impeccable credibility.  American School was the first distance education school to be regionally accredited, and today we are proud to be accredited by MSA-CESS, Ai and NCPSA and recognized by the state of Illinois as a non-public school.

We invite you to browse our web site, contact us if you have any questions or suggestions, and then enroll and become our student.  All of us look forward to serving you and are committed to helping you reach all of your goals, both as an American School student and beyond.
