Accreditations and Affiliations

Our home study courses, high school degrees, and distance education programs for working professionals and aspiring career professionals have helped us earn accreditation from several outside examining committees and accrediting bodies during our 120-year history. Our faculty, the quality of our courses and instructional materials, and the success of our students make American School what it is. See why American School takes pride in providing quality education to students any time, any place, and at their own pace.

American School is accredited by three reputable accrediting bodies.

One is the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools/Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools (MSA-CESS).  The Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools accredit early-childhood through post-secondary, non-degree granting public, private, faith-based educational institutions including special purpose schools, supplementary education centers, learning services providers, and distance education institutions.

2015 America's Promise Alliance logo

Recently American School expanded its presence within two national education programs. Our membership in the United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA) allows us to network with educators from across the country, and our partnership with America’s Promise Alliance helps ensure that all students have an opportunity to earn a high school diploma. In March 2011, we attended the Building a Grad Nation Summit, which was co-hosted by America’s Promise Alliance as a kickoff of their 10-year Grad Nation campaign. Prominent speakers included United States Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and former Florida governor Jeb Bush.
